Rocky Horror Picture Show: M.A.C. "Formidable!" & Picture Polish "Rocky"

Dammit, Janet!  It's Rocky Horror Picture Show time!!  I see you shiver with anticipation (name that song!).  This year will be a very special RHPS at the historic Wilma Theatre of Missoula, because starring as Rocky is none other than my very own heart throb: my incredibly talented boyfriend, Kellen!! <3  In honor of the opening show tonight, I have some Rocky-inspired nails that might just make you want to "give yourself over to absolute pleasure".

Picture Polish "Rocky" is a gold metallic glitter bomb in a clear based that is iced up with some silver glitters for interest.  It is inspired by the golden boy Rocky, with his golden hair, golden bod, and golden hot pants.  When this went on sale at Llarowe, and Kellen was getting geared up for the show, I just knew that this had to be mine.  It didn't strike me as terribly unique, and yet... I don't think I have one exactly like it in my collection.  And I ended up besotted!!  If you love sparkle, love Rocky Horror, and especially if you missed out on the M.A.C. Rocky Horror Collection (we should start a club; a very disgruntled club) then you need Picture Polish's "Rocky" in your life.

I was really bummed about missing the M.A.C. Rocky Horror polishes ("Formidable!" and "Bad Fairy"), but not all hope is lost!  I spent a little bit of time (a lot of time) wallowing, until I discovered that "Formidable!" is actually part of the core collection! (D'oh!)  And for $1.50 less than the bottle stamped with creepy lips!  (I considered sticking some on the plain bottle I acquired, just to be obnoxious and kitschy).

M.A.C. "Formidable!" is a raisin brownish-purple shot through with prismatic microflakie shimmers that flash celestial aqua, though sometimes yield edges of magenta.  In the bottle it also teases hot gold, but that spectrum doesn't come through on the nail.  The wicked plum base frozen over with shimmer like fractured ice really is a formidable thing; formidably beautiful, that is.  It was originally released as part of some Villains Collection a while back.  I think I used three coats for this?  "Formidable!" + "Rocky" together take on a galactic dimension, like a glamorous constellation hazy with stardust and sass.  I loved this combination matte-ified <3

Kellen was very brave, and took me on to blonde him up for his role as golden-haired Rocky.  This was my first-ever attempt at highlights, which could have gone terribly, except that I was very motivated to ensure that it would not because I would have to be seen walking around with the consequences haha (joking! ...mostly joking).  These were the results!!  And yes, I know, he has the most gorgeous hair.  I'm telling you, it's both awesome and frustrating dating this :)  Anyways, since then they've blasted this with gold to make it extra-Rocky, but we were pleasantly surprised that my little experiment didn't go horribly awry :D
