Candy Lacquer : Halloween 2014 "Bloody Unicorn" swatches

Happy Funday, Twinklings!  Just a few days now to Halloween; that in itself is kinda scary!  How time flies.  Now seems a fine time to look at some more spooky polishes, don't you think??  You might remember "Pumpkin Fairy" from back in September, and "Bloody Unicorn" is part of the same Halloween collection!

Bloody Unicorn

"Bloody Unicorn" is a glow-in-the-dark sheer strawberry pink flushed with a profusion of translucent crystal red glitters, and pearl circle glitters in moon-like shades of softest pink, sky blue, seafoam, lavender, and an interesting pale cornsilk yellow.  The pink base twinkles with tiny iridescent sparkles, and sparks with neon hex glitters, ranging from large and very wee indeed, of the most lurid magenta imaginable.  A very cheery polish, like rainbow ice cream and maraschino cherries.  I was a little perturbed by the name at first (nooo not the unicorns) but I suppose it is Halloween, after all.  However, we all know unicorn blood to be silver and mercurial (obviously), so probably the unicorn is okay.  Or maybe it's a phrase; couldn't you see Ron Weasley muttering "bloody unicorn" about silly things when he is feeling foul-tempered? :)  I layered two coats of "Bloody Unicorn" over Butter London "Alcopop", a girly bubblegum pink crème, and Sephora Formula X "Dramatic", a brooding smoky thistle.  I found this one difficult to pair, but I think prefer the purple because it showcased all the glitters and is perhaps a bit more Halloween-y, though in truth "Bloody Unicorn" is so bright and jolly that I don't know if it could ever be really spooky.  It's hard to be sinister when you bleed happiness and rainbows, I suppose :)  The glow-in-the-dark effect is mostly an eerie yellow-green, though faint spots of rainbow hues glow through as well.

"Bloody Unicorn" and its nine trick-or-treating friends may be purchased at Candy Lacquer; the Halloween Collection polishes retail for $9.50.

And here's "Pumpkin Fairy" again, just look how cute:

Speaking of pumpkins... I just scooped up some Trader Joe's Pumpkin Ice Cream and sweet Venus, there are no words.  It must be magic.  I believe in you, Pumpkin Fairy.  I believe so hard.

So anyways... what color would YOU use under "Bloody Unicorn"??
